PSP was more than a smaller home console
Console presence in a pocket
PSP paired a 4.3-inch widescreen display with UMD software, while Memory Stick storage handled saves and downloaded material. Ad Hoc wireless play became an important social setting, and music, video and web features reflected the era’s idea of a pocket entertainment center. Later 2000 and 3000 models and PSP Go changed weight, display and media without leaving the same software family.
Ideas shaped for a handheld
Large productions and compact experiments sat comfortably together. Patapon turned rhythmic commands into marching and combat, LocoRoco built movement around a tilting world and song, and Echochrome made visual perspective the puzzle itself. These games did not need to imitate a home console to demonstrate what the handheld could do.
Playing in a browser
PSP emulation asks more of a processor, memory and browser than earlier 2D systems, and a first launch can take longer. Each game page links back to this platform collection. For steadier play, use a current desktop browser and close demanding background tabs. The directory only lists official versions currently confirmed to launch.
